Welcome to the Twisted Timber Guest House your hosts
are André & Susan Labine. We have built a unique custom-built
timber frame home. The
timbers are recycled from a demolished grain elevator. The timberframe was designed and erected by Julian and Trudy Gauthier of Mira Timberframe (MiraTimberFrame.com) whose speciality includes using reclaimed timbers when these are available.
Our home
was designed to be a guesthouse and was completed in 2004. Guests
can enjoy their own privacy and fireplace in the common room. Each
guest room features a king size bed, a 4-piece bath with towel warmers,
and personal bathrobes. Our home also features an outdoor wood-burning
fireplace and plans are underway to complete a traditional Finnish
style sauna that can be used by our guests.
Our home is located within the city limits a short walk to downtown
Fernie. We are located 400 feet up the slope of Mount Fernie with
great views of the Elk River, Fernie Golf Course and downtown Fernie.
There are panoramic views from our home of the mountains and their
spectacular 9000 feet peaks that surround Fernie. We are a seven-minute
drive to Fernie Alpine Resort with the best powder skiing in Canada.
We
have experienced guesthouses in our travels around the world. We
understand what makes a quality guesthouse and the needs of our
guests. Our comfortable common room is full of reading material
from our travels.
We can help guests with their vacation plans at any time of year.
We are experienced skiers and hikers and are familiar with many
unique locations in the Fernie area.
Susan is well known for her gourmet cooking and her unique menu
of breakfasts that will help guests off to a great day, whatever
activities are planned.
Twisted Timber is a non-smoking residence and pets are not permitted.
We can share with our guests the story of our timber frame home
and the reason for the name “Twisted Timber” guesthouse.
